Painting a Picture

Painting a Picture is a jazzy, rocking CD. All eight tracks sound great and are cool to listen to in the car. It’s captivating and drives through because it seems familiar but it’s contemporary, original music. This listening journey is uplifting and made me feel good. I know most everyone can find something to like on this album. The title, Painting a Picture, is a metaphor for the picture we hold in our mind that will ultimately comes to us. God Only Knows is great track and check out the note that Chuck holds for what seems like two minutes. Well, I don’t know how long it is really but it is impressive. I really like the feel of it. Waiting Dance is an up-tempo tune about getting married - or not - and even though you’re waiting for one or the other, you just want to dance. Any Shape You Like is one of those bend-me-shape-me-any-way-you-want-me kind of songs. In other words, I’ll be who you want me to be, just tell me. That’s kind of cool. Sail On is an acoustic track that has a really good chorus and some interesting string sounds in it. Until It’s Me is different because it starts as an acoustic ballad and then transitions into a dance groove. But I like the idea of the guy promising the girl that he is going to be there for as long as it takes and that he’s the right one no matter what. That’s dedication. Evolution rocks about what you’re going to do with your life and your time. Sometimes the purpose for doing something is greater than the outcome. That seems true. Tomorrow is Here Today is the closing track. The piano and guitars really move well to the haunting chorus that tells us we’d better do what to do today because tomorrow will be today when it gets here. It’s a sort of time travel of the mind.
